Nicolette Sheridan, who not long ago played the role of sexy realtor, Edie Britt, on the hit show Desperate Housewives, filed a lawsuit in April 2010 against the creator of the show. Allegedly the creator, Marc Cherry, hit Sheridan in the face while they were having an argument on set and that he continued to always act in a rude, aggressive, and abusive manner towards Nicolette.
Nicolette had already filed a complaint with ABC Studios who produce and distribute the hit show in 2009 but those charges had been dismissed because they had no merits. However, Sheridan persisted that Marc Cherry was abusive, and not just towards her. She also made claims that Terri Hatcher, who also starred on the show at the time, and still does, was also a victim of Cherry’s and that when Cherry had a problem with her, he said that he hoped Hatcher got hit by a car and died.
Nicolette believes that the tension on set and that the first complaint she filed last year were the ultimate cause for her being killed off the show in the season finale in 2009. Sheridan has pointed out that while many men are victims of accidents and foul play on the show that lead to their ultimate deaths and no longer being part of the show, this has never happened to any women who appeared on the show, and certainly not to one of the main characters.
In total, Nicolette Sheridan is suing for $20 million dollars for assault and battery, gender violence, and wrongful termination. As of June 2010, no settlement or decision by the courts had been made.
